Jira

Connect Jira, choose projects, and sync issues and comments into Layr.

Jira brings execution context into Layr — issues, fields, and comments from projects you include become searchable evidence alongside Slack and other connectors.

Who can connect Jira

Only Owner and Workspace admin roles can open Integrations and manage Jira.

Before you connect

  • You need permission to authorize OAuth for the Jira site (Cloud) your team uses.
  • Identify which Jira projects hold product work, customer bugs, or roadmap items you want in Layr's memory.
  • Reading for analysis is the default. Creating Jira issues from Layr happens only when someone intentionally publishes from an approved draft.

Connect Jira

Open Integrations

In the Layr app, open Integrations from the workspace navigation.

Start OAuth

On the Jira card, select Connect and approve Layr in Atlassian. Pick the Jira site that matches your product workspace.

Discover projects

Layr lists Jira projects available to the authorized account. Use Refresh sources if projects are missing.

Enable projects and confirm

Toggle on the projects Layr should read, then select Confirm and start first sync.

What gets synced

For each included project, Layr ingests issues and comments within the sync window configured for your workspace. Excluded projects are never read, even while Jira stays connected.

After the first sync

  • Evidence from included Jira projects appears in Ask, review, and opportunity surfaces.
  • Admins can trigger manual sync from the Jira card if Home shows stale source memory.
  • Optional write workflows (creating tickets from Layr) require a separate intentional action in the product — they are not part of the initial ingest path.

Tips

  • Start with the one or two projects your PM team treats as the system of record.
  • If your Jira admin is a different person, use the copyable admin instructions on Integrations to hand off OAuth approval.
  • Reconnect Jira if you see a re-authorization banner after permission or site changes.
