Getting started

Join a workspace

Accept a Layr workspace invite using an invite link or code.

Joining a workspace connects your account to a product a teammate already set up in Layr. You can join with an invite link or a short invite code — both come from someone who already belongs to that workspace.

You keep one account

Joining a workspace never creates a new login. Your existing account simply gains access to another workspace. If you belong to several, you switch between them anytime.

What you need

An invite from a workspace member, in one of two forms:

Invite link

A URL that opens Layr and pre-fills the invite for you.

Invite code

A short 6-character code you enter on the join screen.

You also need a Layr account. If you don't have one yet, opening an invite link walks you through creating an account first, then continues to the workspace.

Click the invite link your teammate shared. It opens Layr's join screen with the workspace already identified.

Sign in or sign up

If you're signed in, continue. If not, sign in — or create an account. Your invite is remembered through sign-up.

Confirm and join

Review the workspace you're joining and accept. Layr adds you as a member and drops you into the workspace dashboard.

Join with an invite code

Open the join screen

Go to Layr's Join a workspace screen (while signed in).

Enter the 6-character code

Type the invite code. Layr shows a preview of the workspace it belongs to so you can confirm it's the right one.

Accept

Confirm to join. You're added as a member and taken into the workspace.

If your email doesn't match

Some invites are addressed to a specific email. If you're signed in with a different address than the invite was sent to, Layr tells you there's a mismatch instead of letting you join silently.

Email mismatch

When the invite targets a specific address, sign in with that email, or ask the sender to re-invite the email you actually use. This prevents someone from joining a workspace they weren't intended to.

After you join

  • Your new workspace becomes your active workspace right away.
  • Your role is set by whoever invited you. Owners and admins can adjust roles from Team settings; see the role overview.
  • If you already belonged to other workspaces, use the workspace switcher to move between them.
